The Observatoire des Déplacements Urbains de la commune de Ouagadougou (urban travel observatory of the municipality of Ouagadougou) carries out a vast campaign of road counts every two years at about 40 strategic points or crossroads. This is used to assess the movements entering and leaving the city centre, and the breakdown of transport mode use. By counting the buses in the traffic, the proportion of journeys made by bus compared to those made by car, two-wheeled vehicles and on foot can be estimated.
